That's not a tail.
That's his foot but I didn't make it darker (or differentiate it from the rest of Mario's body really) so now it kind of looks like one.

@Goji54 Probably a early version of the costume that the creator forgot to change.

@Omega : nops, since i see as a disgusting thing how costumes sprite style are so much different (like luigi and king dedede ones, just to example).
If ninty made, for example, Frog Mario in that style, could be MUCH better and should never be in the way that ninty introduced frog mario in SMM (like it was going to be a power-up or something like that, which confused many people and made them hate that costume).
If people unite and make more costume sprite changes change back to how they should look like (the real smb1 nes style, not later nes games), this game will look even better and awesome.
