I was really going by what the Final Fantasy 2 NES overworld character sprites do. You can see that they break the standard 3-color limit by again, having the head and body use different palettes.
Or by making the shade of yellow for his eyes, hands and feet use the same shade of orange as his hat, or vice-versa.
Most likely they could've gotten away with this with having the head and body have separate palettes, there's quite a few games that do this.
shouldnt this have only 3 colors considering its nes?
