There were no "Ducktales" comics per se, but several comics about Donald, Scrooge and others, most notably by Carl Barks (who created Scrooge in the first place) and Don Rosa. It's those, Ducktales is based on. But for some reason (probably because the American comic market is all about superheroes), Disney comics are only popular in Europe, so many Americans are unaware of that.
Man, imagine there'd be an animated adaptation of "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck". I'd so watch that... if they don't screw it up.

I never knew there were Ducktales comics. But, I like the old Ducktales cartoon, because, I grew up watching on DVD when I was young. And it's that very memorable to me.

@Sneakyslycooper. Those are invalid reasons if you ask me. Again, the new version's more influenced by the comics, hence Scrooge wearing his original red outfit, Donald Duck given a bigger role and wearing his black sailor shirt and white hat, Glomgold Spoiler:being South African like his comic counterpart while faking the Scottish persona. Gyro being a dick because that's how he was in the comics. Also, it's the first time Donald's sister Della has ever appeared in animated form as she was only mentioned in the nephews' debut short and the comics in flashbacks.
And would you really want Webby having no personality like her original version?
Because she was considered one of the weaker aspects of the old DuckTales.
I grew up with Donald Duck cartoons and comics, so it feels just right for me.

The reboot doesn't feel like the old Ducktales. Scrooge doesn't wear his iconic blue outfit, I don't see Duckworth anywhere, Mrs. Beakly is different, Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby are basically teenagers, Launchpad doesn't feel the same, and neither does Gyro Gearloose. (AND Glomgold is fat). Those are the reasons why I dislike the new Ducktales.

@Ton Helps that it's more influenced by the Carl Barks and Don Rosa comics more.

@Sneakyslycooper Hard disagree. I grew up on the original, but I think the reboot is better in about every way.

The 1980s Ducktales is a lot better than the stupid reboot.

not bad. it's a lot better than the one i made a while back. it was basically colorized Game Boy Scrooge. also. i really love the swimming sprites for him too

Very, very well done.

"Bless me bagpipes! This Mushroom Kingdom has more gold than Duckburg!"

As a matter of fact, Portugal only had the Disney comics because of Brazil.
