The licensing rights to The Simpsons wasn't as simple as it seems. Sure Acclaim (plus Flying Edge and LJN brands) did get the console rights but more than one company had computer rights. I mean Ocean aka the other company getting licenses had the home computer rights too and they chose to port Bart vs the Space Mutants rather than license the Konami game. Image Works may have considered like they did with TMNT if it wasn't for the fact that the company collapsed.

Then again Simpsons wasn't the ONLY Konami licensed game that didn't get home console versions. Aliens never got one (Square of all companies had console and MSX rights, computer rights were with Activision who had issues at the time), neither did Asterix (Sega and Infogrames had console rights), GI Joe (Taxan?), X-Men* (Acclaim and Sega), C.O.W. Boys of MOO Mesa (never got a port) and technically two Dragon Ball Z games did run on Konami hardware. TMNT was actually lucky...

*- Yes, it did get a brief appearance on PSN like The Simpsons but they were pulled.

Thank good old Acclaim, who greedily bought up every western license they could get their hands on. Then gave those licenses shovelware titles under the LJN brand.

Genuinely this looks like an "in-universe" game the characters would play. Not sure how this port plays but still I like that authenticity.
