Yes, they could. But Coleco actually made the 2600 and Intellivision versions really bad so that it looked like the ColecoVision was superior. It's true!

Donkey Kong is mad cause Mario and Pauline have three colors and he only has one. XD
@shadowman44 The atari has sprite limitations so it can't show graphics as good as the original
Mario and Pauline look normal, and then Donkey Kong looks like a frekin Lego man or something. Could they not add in yellow for his hands and face?
