Indeed it does, it sounds similar to "numbskull" and vaguely brings to mind a pointed head.
To be fair, it does sound like an alternate word for "idiot"
But thanks to Bugs Bunny, people tend to assume it means "idiot."
He's named after the biblical Nimrod, who was a hunter.
Such a cruel creator. If I ever make a robot, I'll be sure to give it a much more inspiring name than "Nimrod."
