Thank goodness these butt-ugly SatAM sprites were never used. Not that the sprites were poorly done or anything, but the character design was really awful.

Aren't the blue dialogues meant to be for Sonic? I found this out on TCRF's SSTH prototype page.

:o Didn't know there was complete Robotnik sprites!

I'm suprised they managed to get that far in development with an asymmetrical design either way, since they would have to draw those exact sprites TWICE, one for Robotnik facing left, and another facing right (which would've been a tedious process when trying to meet with the deadline).

I guess they decided to give up on SATAM Robotnik before the cage vehicle, which might be a huge edit along with the ones in the last stage. It makes me wonder if Sonic Team was planning to hire Jim Cummings to do the voice overs or left the Japanese speech with English Translation added instead.

SEGA's arcade games require some files to be merged for the sprites to display properly in a tile viewer. There's an explanation and a link to tools at the bottom of this page.

So why does the SATAM/Sonic Underground Robotnik/Eggman exist in this game?

We finally get to see the unused SATAM Robotnik. BTW how did you manage to rip this? MAME's tile viewer doesn't seem to work on Sega games when I tried to.

Do I detect a hint of Robotink from the old Sonic cartoons?
