@Mr_Blobdude Both are right. According to the arcade version and the original Japanese/European Mega Drive version, Mobo and Robo watch someone on TV with the plan to clean up Badville steal from crooked places run by counterfeiters and cheating gambling operators with the pledge to steal the treasure in 3 minutes. Then for the Genesis US release (Revision B), it got changed to businesses were being robbed and they wanted the Bonanza Bros testing security, retrieving certain items. This was due to censorship and to make matters worse, the US cartridge then became the default global version. It seems like Sega of America was concerned that the main characters were thieves and wrote a clunky story on why they were getting the items.

As it happens, it was also one of the reasons along with copyright law why it took a while for Lupin III to be released in the US because the idea of a thief being a character was seen as so wrong over there. Also why The Castle of Cagliostro was the first to be released due to differences in Lupin's character compared to Parts 1, 2 and the Mystery of Mamo.

I'm VERY CONFUSED about this games story, are the Bonanza bros thiefs that steal stuff or they are used to test security and get rid of crooked businesses, I dont even know which one is right,

To me, they look like they're early-CGI-type characters.
